Vespa PK 80 S

This smallframe Vespa has in my own humble opinion one large merit, and that is that it can be tuned heavily. There are a lot of cylinder, gearing, crank and carburetor kits available that makes this otherwise quite standard Vespa into a +120 km/h racer. It is a common model that can be found at a modest price in most countries. This model is also available in 50 and 125cc versions where the PK 125 ETS is a popular smallframe with good performance.

PROS: Tunability. The frame is much more firm than that of a Primavera and the front fork in PX style also gives much better road performance. 10" wheels and 4 gears makes this a "PX-smallframe" that is quite fun to ride. Parts are easily available and the engine block can  be ported to house a 133cc kit and a 24 mm Reed valve inlet. Zirri tuning kits giving +25 hp are available but jeopardizes reliability if not properly installed.

CONS: Looks. It is not one of the more beautiful Vespas made. This is especially valid for the standars "S" models where the front fender and rear light won't give you any design awards. Otherwise it is quite PX-ish in its looks, a bit squarish and with quite a lot of plastic details (handlebars for example) These can however easily be exchanged. The step between 3.rd and 4:th gear is quite large which can be a problem is upgeared too much - it will never reach the exhaust power band when changing to the last gear.
